Iben picked up her mother’s guitar at 4. Recorded her first 8 track recording in a small studio at 12. She later did studies of sound-engineering at the IAD in Louvain-La-Neuve/Belgium.
At 17, she released her first record as a performer (with the band Zwischenfall), then went into production and sound-engineering with producer Roli Mosimann doing remixes with well-known rock-bands in New York, such as Megadeth and Mindbomb.
Founder of a booking and management company, Iben toured Europe and the US several times as the manager of several trendsetting bands like A Split-Second & Blaine L. Reininger from Tuxedomoon.
Then in 1994, after having released three CD's with her own band The Gallery, performing in Europe as well as a New Year’s un-plugged concert in California in 1993, she decided to create “essentials” under her own name, iben, as a solo-artist project.
iben “essentials” was conceived in 1996 in collaboration with her all-time friend, musician-producer-sound-engineer Stephan Kraemer, with whom she co-managed one of Belgium’s largest recording studios “Impuls Studios”.
Between its Arabic, Celtic and cosmic influences, “essentials” carries trans-dimensional energies and lyrics from the heart and soul, with multidimensional awareness.
Her latest co-creation with Vincenzo Bianco and Stephan Kraemer is called LiV “Universal Dances Vol 1.” and is trance-ambient-dance music created based on the conscious use of shareable healing frequencies (432 Hz) helping synchronization of the two hemispheres of the brain.
Iben is currently writing a score for a feature which will be shot in Hawaii before the end of the year.
